The age old question - do I set up a #Diaspora pod or a #RedMatrix hub for my personal site?
Truth be told, I’m fond of both of them. Friendicans might argue that Diaspora is more limited in certain ways, due to it having less features, but it’s a platform that I’m more familiar with. Perhaps my involvement in the project gives me bias there. I like the way Diaspora looks, and I like the community that revolves around the it.
The project has gradually been getting healthier. More features and fixes are coming in, and the next major release will likely support integrated #XMPP chat. For a single-user pod, it might serve my needs just fine.
The larger concern is figuring out how I’m going to move all of my posts, contacts, and content over. As it stands, this is currently impossible, but I think if pods ever get some sort of pod-to-pod migration API and a method for revising posts to assign ownership to a new authenticated author, migrating would be possible.
